The Hon. Enver Erdogan MP, Member for Northern Metropolitan Region

Enver Erdogan is the Victorian Minister for Environment, Minister for Outdoor Recreation, and Minister for Casino, Gaming and Liquor Regulation. He is also a Member of the Victorian Legislative Council representing Northern Metropolitan Region.

Since entering Parliament in 2019, Enver has built a strong reputation as a passionate advocate for local communities, workers’ rights and public policy that delivers practical outcomes for Victorians. His ministerial responsibilities now include protecting Victoria’s natural environment, supporting outdoor recreation opportunities across the state, and overseeing the regulation of the casino, gaming and liquor sectors.

Before joining Cabinet, Enver served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Attorney-General from June to December 2022. He also chaired the Legislative Council’s Standing Committee on Economy and Infrastructure between 2020 and 2022, leading major parliamentary inquiries into issues including Melbourne’s Free Tram Zone, Victoria’s road toll, regional school bus services, tourism and events recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic, and the transition of Victoria’s energy sector following the closure of Hazelwood and Yallourn power stations.

Enver holds degrees in Economics and Law from La Trobe University, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Leo Cussen Centre for Law. He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Prior to entering Parliament, Enver worked as an Associate at Maurice Blackburn Lawyers, where he represented injured workers and advocated for fair outcomes for everyday Victorians. He has described helping people through difficult periods in their lives as one of the most rewarding aspects of his legal career.

Enver also previously served as a Councilor with the former Moreland City Council from 2008 to 2012 and was a member of the Management Committee of the Municipal Association of Victoria, the peak representative body for local government in Victoria.

Outside Parliament, Enver enjoys history, foreign affairs and spending time with family and friends. He is a passionate sports fan, particularly of soccer and the Collingwood Football Club, and is married with two daughters.
